Are houses in our area still selling?  Definely yes! Despite what you might hear about larger communities, Wayne’s housing market has not come to a halt.  In fact, we have a listing that is sale pending right now!  Granted, the number of houses sold is down slightly from a year ago, but there are 2 main reasons our community continues to move forward.

One reason houses are still selling is that interest rates are historically low.  This allows buyers to save big in monthly payments, making it more affordable to buy than to rent.  Today’s rates are around 4.5% but may soon begin to climb, so buyers should lock in rates as soon as they have finalized negotiations on the property they wish to purchase.

The second reason houses are still moving is that prices are very competitive.  Buyers are looking for value, and sellers are looking to sell their houses at a price that makes sense.  In this type of market, real estate agents are especially valuable in negotiating with buyers and sellers.

So although the economy around the country may be less than bright, you can still find value in the homes in our area!  You can buy a great home, while paying less interest.  If you have been waiting to buy your first home or want to upgrade to your next home, now is a great time to do it.
